About Us

Mission

“To strengthen the health and well-being of all Ontario children and their families by building a vibrant network of people and organizations who actively create opportunities for Ontarians to experience nature every day.”

Our Network

Back to Nature Network is a diverse and growing group of organizations uniting to build capacity to connect children, youth and families with nature in ongoing and meaningful ways. The network grew from the international children and nature movement that is focused on addressing ‘nature-deficit’ disorder, a term spawned by Richard Louv’s book Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-deficit Disorder. Over 80 member organizations representing education, health, planning, environment and active living sectors, have come together with the mission of strengthening the health and well-being of all Ontario children and their families by building a vibrant network of people and organizations who actively create opportunities to experience nature every day.
