DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 11\, 2016 – Sunday\, June 12\, 2016 \nSat 12:00 p.m. – Sun 12:00 p.m. \nCredit River Watershed \nFree! \nWhat’s a Bioblitz? A BioBlitz brings together taxonomic experts\, citizen scientists and the general public to inventory all species (plants\, animals\, fungi and more) in a particular area over a 24 hour period. Participants record all the organisms they find\, then experts verify their identity. As the Blitz proceeds and after it is done\, the species records are compiled into a single data set: the species list\, which provides a snapshot of the biodiversity in that location on that date. \nFor full event details\, please visit the CVC website here.  \n

We invite you to: \n– Join a Naturalist with Guided Junior Hikes on the Alvar\n– Thrill in a Birds of Prey Show with Master Falconer\, Matt Lieberknecht from Central Ontario School of Falconry\n– Build a birdfeeder or birdhouse of your own – materials donated by Brechin Timber Mart\n– Explore the wonders of life under the surface of a pond!\n– Be amazed by the skill and agility of Champion Certified Tracking Dogs\n– Meet and learn about all sorts of slimy\, scaly and feathered friends\n– Enjoy wagon rides\, ice cream\, bee exhibit\, make a rope\, nature crafts and more \nChildren must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dogs allowed on a leash\, but cannot be near the Birds of Prey show. \nNo registration is required for this event. \n

DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar for Focus on Nature’s annual Spring Garden Party! This year’s setting will be the beautiful gardens of Gary & Wynne Christie at 47 Grange Street in Guelph\, and you’re invited! Drop by anytime on Sunday June 12th from 1pm to 5pm. \nThe Garden Party is an annual fundraiser for Focus on Nature\, a registered charity that works to inspire young people to connect with nature though photography. We’ll have photos by young photographers on display\, plus fine food & drinks\, music by talented young performers\, and lots of great prizes on the silent auction table\, all set in a delightful private garden! \nCome and learn about our innovative school program that has grown rapidly here in Guelph/Wellington. All ages are welcome.* \nDownsview Park staff will take you on a free indoor/outdoor Park program based on nature-themed topics to get you exploring the natural world\, starting with Downsview Park! \nEach two-hour program will explore a natural theme.
