SUMMARY:Ecohealth In Action Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Ecohealth In Action Workshop is planned as a day-long\, catered workshop that will be held in conjunction with the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA) Fall Forum and World Town Planning Day. \nOne hundred guests–from the fields of public health\, planning\, medicine\, policy\, education\, conservation\, forestry\, parks & recreation and more–will participate in this year’s workshop\, building on our combined knowledge and inspiring action to enhance the quality and quantity of greenspaces. \nIn response to our changing world and climate\, public health organizations have begun collaborating with the environmental sector\, as well as individuals in planning and academia\, to assess and explore the effects of greenspace on physical and mental health. EcoHealth In Action will facilitate the interdisciplinary dialogue necessary to put new ideas about health and its connection to the environment into action. \nParticipants will also explore and discuss EcoHealth Ontario’s new Greenspace and EcoHealth Toolkit. \nDr. Faisal Moola\, PhD will provide the keynote address. Dr. Moola is an adjunct professor in the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry and has published works on ecology\, conservation biology\, and environmental policy in several books and journals. \nBreakfast\, lunch\, and refreshments provided.
